WAY OF THE CROSS: A WAY
OF MISSION
On the occasion of Lent 2019 and in the wake of an “extraordinary
time of prayer and reflection on the Ad gentes mission” (October 2019), declared by Pope Francis,
three Franciscan works* suggest you a missionary Way of the Cross.
It seems appropriate to offer our local faithful, in 2019, the Way of
the Cross’s original version, whose symbolic title is Way of the Cross: a way of mission. The pastoral text takes into account the points
of reference proposed by His Holiness, Pope Francis. It updates the challenges
of life for the Christian communities and it deepens an effective solidarity
with the Churches and the Christians of the Holy Land and the Middle East.
We hope that this Way of the Cross will allow the Christian communities
to pray in favour of the missions and the missionaries and to show more
solidarity with the people in mission countries.

* This Way of the Cross is a joint project of three groups: the Hermitage
of Gethsemane (Jerusalem), the Franciscan Mission Office (Montreal) and the
Commissariat of the Holy Land in Canada (Ottawa).
